Welcome to Rooted!

Who we are

Rooted is Morningside’s college-aged group that meets every Sunday at 11:00. Our mission is to Dig deep. Grow strong. Reach out.

We can’t wait for another school year of growing strong in our faith together.

Discuss and apply truth in a small group community

What Should I expect?

This year, in addition to weekly small group discussion we’re excited to host discussion panels about topics YOU want to talk about. We’ll discuss practical issues in life to help you grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus.

You can also expect…

  • dynamic worship

  • friendly people

  • down-to-earth small group discussion

  • and of course, food :)

We can’t wait to welcome new and returning students this Sunday! Hope to see you soon!

Jesus is Worthy!

Jesus is Worthy!

What a wonderful time we had today in the Lord’s house! Our students were able to lead the main choir, sing in the first service, read Scripture, and share a testimony. It was such a blessing to sing songs of praise! We are reminded to praise the Lord every week.

During Sunday school retired Lieutenant Colonel BC Christmas gave a powerful testimony on how he praises God for his cancer! He shared about his miraculous recovery after he was told he had a 25% chance of survival. He reminded us as we all go through tribulation we need to rely on Christ for our strength. If God is for us who can be against us? What can be against us? Nothing. We are so thankful for the perfect Lamb who made all of this possible. So today & every day, praise the Lord!

Thank you to the young men and women who filled our auditorium with song and worship on Sunday. We are sad to see you go! We say good-bye to dozens of students this week but are looking forward to seeing them all again in January!

More than Meets the Eye - Mark 12:35-40

We all enjoyed Pastor Crockett’s message on focusing on the heart and not the externals of dress and appearance. We met in our small groups for some great time of Bible study and discussion. Looking forward to next week’s time together.

Serve God and Country - Civil Leaders Sunday

Pastor Crockett shared from God’s Word in Mark 12:14-16. Jesus rebuked the religious leaders about giving unto the government that which belongs to government and give unto God that which is God’s. The government should receive our taxes, submission, and honor. We need to give God everything we have.

One of our small group leaders Adam Morgan serves as SC State House 20th District representative shared how God has called him to serve in the government. Please be praying for our country and this election.

The Lord is My Shepherd - Psalm 23

After an emotional first hour where we celebrated law enforcement officers in our annual thin blue Sunday, Pastor Crockett shared how the Lord is our shepherd. In the gym we enjoyed some great singing and heard a wonderful testimony from Camryn Rickard. She shared how we can rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and to use our gifts for God! We are thankful for Jeff Bryson who shared some insightful ways to rely on God. We finished the hour by going into our small groups!

Caring for Others

Caring for Others

Our group was able to participate in the main service on Sunday. First, the baptism of Noah Villiger and then we had our Rooted men’s ensemble sing! They were a blessing. In Sunday School Sarah Stuhl shared how the Lord showed her how to have joy in the book of Philippians. Dr Nathan Crockett gave a very moving challenge sharing how we should go to our heavenly Father.

We are so thankful for everyone participating & helping things run smoothly. Your participation through music, testimonies, face painting, and working in the children’s ministries serve the body of Christ. We are so thankful for you! If you would like to plug in and serve please contact one of the leaders and we can help find a place for you.

Loving God - Mark 12:30

What a blessing to spend time together in Rooted with wonderful music & testimonies. Danielle Boyle shared how trusting God & His ways are so much better. What a privilege to hear real testimonies from our group on how good God is working & how we can apply that to our lives. Our small group discussion dug deep into the message we heard about Love and the Law. What a wonderful challenge we have this week to spend time alone with God to not ask anything but to just tell Him how much we love Him. Pray asking God to help you!

Cast Your Care on Jesus - 1 Pet 5:7

What a wonderful start to October hearing evangelist Brent Sivintstky speak about how God cares for our souls & casting our cares on Him. Elizabeth Scroggins shared her story about how God never left her when she started to stray! Praise the Lord for that! What a blessing to see God moving in our small groups & through the students as they participate each week. We are so thankful for every one of them!

Small Group Hour & Park Service

After some wonderful singing and music we were able to hear Abby Herr’s testimony. It is such a blessing to see how God moved in the lives of students over the summer. Brad Harris gave a short but great thought on Pastor’s message before we broke out into our small groups.

We had a great time at the Butler Springs Park service of singing, testimonies, games, and a great devotional. The Lord has provided all we need in Christ Jesus…do not chase after anything else.

Testimony, Singing, and Small Groups

Testimony, Singing, and Small Groups

During our small group hour Austin Huffman shared a great testimony about how God can even use tragic circumstances in our lives. How we can trust and lean on God especially during the hard times. We also sang powerful music and we’re truly blessed before going into our small groups. Our lesson was about how all earthly relationships take cultivating. We often fail in comparison to the complete relationship we will have with Jesus Christ one day! We strive to continue personal relationships during our times together. Join us to dig deep and grow in God's Word.

Small Groups Again & Worship in Park

What a wonderful first week back to small groups! We had the opportunity to dive deep into Pastor’s message and find ways to directly apply it to our lives! It was a blessing to hear how the Holy Spirit stirred in each of our hearts in the small group setting. We are very excited to see God moving this year and how He will continue to move and use small groups to encourage each other to serve Christ!

Last night we met at Herdklotz Park and were a testimony for Christ in our community. As we sang and held a small service, several families from the community gathered near to hear. Christ calls us to be light in a dark world and we want to be used to reach Greenville for Christ! People from the community also joined in to play games with us and we started building friendships. It is a tremendous blessing to host this as a church!

We had 63 young adults join us at Butler Springs Park this past Sunday night. What a great way to come back together after an extended summer break! Praise the Lord we had food, fellowship, games & services! How wonderful to be out in our community openly and boldly serving God while sharing our faith. Pray with us that many seeds will be planted and rooted as we continue to gather together with the next generation leading the cause for Christ.

Welcome to Fall 2020

Morningside offers a unique Sunday environment for those 18 to 22 years old. Starting this Sunday August 23rd at 9:30 there will be light refreshments, music, and fellowship. This will be a time to meet the pastors and small group leaders. We will continue this until September 6th.

Starting September 13th we will start meeting in the gym immediately following Pastor Crockett’s 10:00 AM service. This will be our Sunday school class! We’ll make announcements on fun activities, sing songs to lift us up, and break into small groups.

This year is different for those who are used to coming to Morningside. We will be having outdoor activities, outreach to our community, discipleship opportunities, and times to worship our great God.

For BJU Students we will have a bus pickup at 9:30 am. Please feel free to contact Pastor Tom if any questions.
