Women's Movie Night (March)

Women's Movie Night (March)

Back in March, just before COVID-19 started to obliterate our calendar, about 40 women gathered in the East Wing to enjoy the Christian movie War Room.

We had just come out of our missions conference, “Leading Sinners Home.” Kathy Burget said the movie really reinforced messages on prayer, outreach, and mentoring others.

Kathy also shared some great lines from the movie:

“My joy doesn’t come from my friends, it doesn’t come from my job, it even doesn’t come from my husband. My joy is found in Jesus...”

“He gives us grace and he helps us to give it to others, even when they don’t deserve it.”

“You need to plead with God to do what only He can do, and then you need to get out of the way and let him do it.”

“Prayer does not merely change things, it will change us.”

“The goal of prayer is not to change God’s mind about what you want. The goal of prayer is to change your own heart, to want what He wants, to the glory of God.”

As you may know, our staff had several major communication pieces to send out during March, April, and even May. We do apologize for taking so long to share this report! We still aren’t able to host many activities yet, but we hope to have more women’s fellowships soon. And we’re very thankful for those who are willing to open up their homes and screens and continue building fellowship in the midst of a global pandemic.

Women's Craft Night

Women's Craft Night

An exciting report from Kathy Burget:

We had about 32, a few teens, a few grandmas and everyone in between.

Kimberly brought her neighbor, Jaalah brought a friend, and we had a couple new Morningside members and attendees. Wanda Courtney did a good job teaching us, and we all had a great time. Several ladies brought their own crafts and enjoyed working on them together. I shared for a very brief time Hebrews 10:24-25 that it’s our responsibility to provoke each other to good works, to encourage each other. It’s not about just attending church, it’s about developing relationships with each other and about the importance of fellowship.
